Hazardous Fuel Reduction in Pescadero Canyon, Carmel-by-the-Sea

The Fire Defense Plan issued by Carmel-by-the-Sea Wildfire Preparedness Committee on July 25 2025, is an excellent document with clear instructions and detailed maps. Portions are shown below that relate to Pescadero Canyon. 

It's almost a year later, but the hazardous fuel reduction hasn't started, and no firms have been selected for the work.

Appendix H below clearly states that there is a fuel reduction zone 100 to 300 feet below homes into Pescadero Canyon. Excellent news. But the hazardous fuel still hasn't been cleared.

This is a scary image. When your house insurance is canceled, you'll know why. And when a wildfire decimates Carmel-by-the-Sea, you'll know why as well.

The declared Fuel Reduction Zone that is under the sole jurisdiction of Carmel-by-the-Sea is highlighted in cross-hatched light purple/pink. This is where we need the goats twice a year, munching on the undergrowth and the overgrown weeds.
