
Hazardous Fuel Reduction in Pescadero Canyon, Carmel-by-the-Sea
Carmel-by-the-Sea City Council
The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea is responsible for initiating, coordinating, qualifying, budgeting, and funding hazardous fuel mitigation efforts—including direct funding and grant applications—implemented through third-party vendors and in collaboration with local and state agencies for Pescadero Canyon and other areas of the city.
The City has $150,000 budgeted for fuel mitigation in 2026 which remains unused.

Del Monte Forest Conservancy
Hazard and Fuel Reduction: Del Monte Forest Conservancy identifies and treats tree and fire hazards to protect public safety and enhance the ecological integrity of the forest. Goats are provided on the north side of Pescadero Canyon and up to Pescadero Road in Carmel Woods.
